Venice (Italy) Access Fee 2026

Dates – Prices – Booking link

The amount provided for the Venice Access Fee is: 5€ daily and 10€ daily for those who pay the Access Fee after the fourth last day before the day of access.

When do you actually have to pay in 2026?

As of today, March 4, 2026, the fee for the year 2026 is fixed. It has NOT changed. It is still €5.00 per day. The online payment link is: https://cda.ve.it/en/. Admission will only be charged from the beginning of April to the end of July 2026, and even then almost exclusively on weekends (Friday to Sunday).

It starts on April 3, 2026, and ends on July 26, 2026. There will be no admission before or after July 26, 2026.

The 3 exceptions at a glance:

  • Easter: Monday, April 6.
  • Special dates: April 27th to 30th and May 1st to 4th, 2026.
  • Time: The fee is only payable between 08:30 and 16:00.

Who is free?

The list of exceptions is long and particularly important for seniors and tourists. Among those exempt from the fee are:

  • Visitors who only use the train station area or Piazzale Roma without venturing into the old town.
  • Visitors who have booked accommodation in Venice (however, free registration is mandatory).
  • Visitors to the smaller islands (Murano, Burano, Lido, etc.).
  • Children under 14 years of age and people with disabilities along with their accompanying person.

Important note: Visitors to Venice who have booked accommodation in Venice must also apply for an exemption:

The “garbage factor”: Why the city must act

Venice, with its roughly 50,000 inhabitants, is a small city visited by up to 30 million people annually. The main problem is the enormous amount of waste, generated primarily by day-trippers who often bring their own food and drinks. While hotel guests already contribute through the city tax, many day visitors leave behind trash but don’t pay a cent for its disposal. The entrance fee is the first attempt to make these visitors contribute to the cleaning costs as well.

Price comparison: Venice is cheaper than you think

Compared to other tourist attractions in Europe, the fee quickly becomes less of an issue:

  • Neuschwanstein, Germany : approx. €23.50 (incl. fee).
  • Munich Oktoberfest, Germany : A liter of beer and a chicken already cost over €30.00.
  • Eiffel Tower, Paris: €36.70 to the top
  • Colosseum, Rome: €18
  • Leaning Tower of Pisa: €18
  • Cheap Venice: Contrary to the reputation of being a “rip-off,” an espresso can be had in cafes at St. Mark’s Square for as little as €1.50. A bottle of mineral water at St. Mark’s Square costs €0.60.

Expert tip from Venice.com: Book early and save!

Those planning their visit shouldn’t leave it to the last minute. Anyone paying four days before arrival will be charged €10.00. For bookings made up to four days before the visit, the fee remains a reasonable €5.00.
